A Welsh Coffin Trail by Laurence Main

Bridleway 57/66 north of Burry Port in Camarthenshire is known to locals as the 'Coffin Trail'. The coffins were carried south from SN450035 to SN454021, then turned sharply left, eastwards, to an old non-conformist chapel at SN457023 (Capel Carmel). People used to be afraid to use this path because of the sound of clacking chains, while at the northern end of the wood at Mynydd pen-bre three miners were drowned when they hit an underground lake while working in an incline. The mine was never used again. Laurence Main
